Art plays an important part at VIA’s new Campus Horsens. On September 24th H.R.H. The Crown Princess and the world-renowned artist Daniel Buren inaugurated VIA’s new Campus Horsens.
With the construction of the new campus, Buren has realized his first permanent commissions in Denmark. Unique to these artworks is that they are conceived as an important, integrated and site-specific element from the beginning of the project. Art and architecture are thus part of a unique interplay and creates a work that in an exceptional way responds to the architecture. The whole building is a spectacular artwork that the students, teachers and visitors will experience as they walk through the entrances, stand under the skylight, sit in the canteen, attend a lecture in the auditorium or stay in the atrium. An experience which at each encounter will change according to the time of day and the intensity of the light flowing through and which thereby creates a unique learning environment for joy and inspiration for the students and staff.
In the period 2018-2021, Creator Projects has assisted VIA with art consulting and project management to develop building integrated commissions for the new Campus Horsens. The site-specific commission is created by Daniel Buren, curated by Creator Projects and developed in collaboration with CF Møller Architects, who has contributed to architectural and technical integration in the new VIA campus building.
