During the summer of 2017, Skulptur Odense presented a number of Danish and international artists in the exhibition ’Becoming Human’ in Odense Zoo curated by Marie Nipper. Victoria Marie Christiansen from Creator Projects assisted in the production and project management.

Featuring sculpture, site-specific installations, photo, video, and sound art, the exhibition sets out to examine the relationship between human beings and animals –in a physical as well as philosophical, symbolic and ethical perspective.

Artists have been inspired by the complex history of human connection and existence with animals since the cave paintings. Our view on animals – in both life and art – is crucial to how we think about ourselves and our place in the world.
